Dos and Don’ts of a Trek

Trekking in the pristine forests and mountains of Himachal Pradesh is a rewarding experience. To ensure safety, sustainability, and environmental conservation, all trekkers are advised to follow the guidelines below:

✅ Do’s
  1. Plan and Research: Research route, terrain, altitude, and weather. Inform someone about your trekking schedule.
  2. Pack Wisely: Carry proper boots, layered clothing, rain gear, water bottles, snacks, first-aid kit, navigation tools, and emergency supplies.
  3. Stay Hydrated: Drink adequate water and carry sufficient food.
  4. Leave No Trace: Dispose waste responsibly and stay on designated trails.
  5. Check Weather: Be prepared for sudden mountain weather changes.
  6. Stay with Group: Follow guide instructions and stay together.
  7. Respect Wildlife: Observe from distance and avoid disturbance.
  8. Maintain Pace: Rest periodically and avoid overexertion.

  1. Don’t Underestimate Terrain: Choose routes according to your fitness.
  2. Don’t Ignore Safety Guidelines: Follow forest authority instructions.
  3. Don’t Litter: Never leave plastic or waste behind.
  4. Don’t Wander Off Trail: Stay on marked routes.
  5. Don’t Overexert: Stop if feeling exhausted or sick.
  6. Don’t Neglect Sun Protection: Use sunscreen, sunglasses, and hat.
  7. Don’t Forget Emergency Gear: Carry whistle, flashlight, and first-aid kit.
  8. Don’t Disturb Nature: Respect vegetation, wildlife, and heritage sites.

HPECOSOC provides trekking facilities to responsible trekkers to experience and appreciate nature. A nominal entry fee is charged for maintenance, conservation, and basic management of the trekking routes.

Trekking is undertaken at the sole risk and responsibility of the trekker. HPECOSOC shall not be held liable for any injury, accident, loss, damage, or unforeseen incident arising during the course of the trek.

Trekkers are advised to:
  • Follow all safety guidelines and instructions issued by forest authorities.
  • Respect wildlife and natural habitats.
  • Adhere to Leave No Trace principles.
  • Avoid risky behavior and unauthorized routes.

By entering the trekking area, the trekker agrees to comply with all applicable rules and regulations.

❌ Cancellation Policy

The refund amount will be processed based on the number of days prior to the trekking date. Applicable GST (5%) and online transaction charges are non-refundable unless stated otherwise.

🟢 15 Days or More Before Trek

90% refund of booking amount will be processed.

(GST and transaction charges will be deducted.)
🟡 14 to 5 Days Before Trek

50% refund of booking amount will be processed.

(GST and transaction charges will be deducted.)
🔴 4 to 0 Days Before Trek

No refund will be provided.


⚖️ Cancellation by Authority

The Eco-tourism Society of Himachal Pradesh reserves the right to cancel bookings due to official visits, government guidelines, natural calamities, or unforeseen circumstances.

In such cases, a full refund will be processed excluding online transaction charges and GST (if applicable).
